Terrahawks became a cult watch for myself and a host of workmates (all in our thirties at the time) as well as my young kids; epic, clever, wickedly amusing and so imaginative!

Wonderful and ultimately sad, I was 11 when Four Feather Falls started but watched it anyway because it seemed to be different and became an Anderson fan through all of the developing projects, as a near teenager, my peers and I enjoyed other shows like Space Patrol but Supercar was really the start of the exotic for us. For that trailblazing organisation to just disappear was a tragedy.

UFO was excellent and doing really well. I wonder who the c__t was who cancelled it, then messed about with Space 1999? (Never mind Gerry's other shows) It never ceases to amaze me how 'precious' and self-obsessed most media types seem to be. PS: I'd absolutely love to see as well made live action Captain Scarlet... but in these day's of talentless hacks only interested in politics instead of telling good stories I should probably be careful what I wish for. A shame I'd not heard of the CGI series - I wonder if Gerry's version is anywhere?

Loved UFO watched it anytime it was on. Loved the women on Moonbase and that purple hair. I’m 61 now and I still loved purple hair.

I hope the remaining puppets, props and sets that were still in the buildings were saved before the bulldozers moved in. How sad. I was gobsmacked when he said "who would want these?" when looking at the old Thunderbird 2, Fab 1 and other puppet and sets. There are many fans who would give their grannies savings and more to own any of those historic and precious items!! I also hope some sort of memorial or plaque marks the spot to commemorate what happened on that site as it is is such an important part of not only British TV history, but world cinema given what many of the special effects team went to work on in their future. Thanks to everyone who worked on those shows as you made a young lad very happy in his growing years and the same old guy just as happy to be able to watch then again in his older years. Beautiful x

I hope all those props and cameras were saved, love this, it was watching these programs that got me into filming and writing , glad I got to grow up in these amazing times.

I loved Captain Scarlet, but Lew Grade cancelling Thunderbirds was an act of madness

All of the Supermarionation shows will always have a place in my heart, i'm a little too young (61) to remember the earlier shows, but Thunderbirds, Captain Scarlet and Joe 90 will always have a large part of my heart, Stingray i got to view when i was intermediate school age, and that will have a place in my heart, thankyou to all the crew who made these shows possible, well done team.

No offense, but even as a kid I never liked this show. The whole thing just wasn't convincing.

I have the full box set of Thunderbirds which I watch from time to time. I'm 64 now. Happy days!

A few houses on my paper-round never got their newspapers, because I didn't want to miss Space 1999 on Saturday mornings. :) And Dragon's Domain still give me nightmares!

Pity Gerry Anderson never saw the Thunderbirds reboot which was very well done

Its a great shame that as the series of Space 1999 progressed it got closer to the stupidity of Lost in space where we ended up with pirates and who would pop in and out along with jugglers and clowns and 1999 went down that route and became bloody stupid. There were far too many planets and aliens that arrived on the moon as it would have had to travel 50x the speed of light to bump into that many inhabited planets.

I absolutely loved Thunderbirds, stingray, Joe 90, Captain Scarlet, UFO as a kid into my youth,…. These were absolutely great times.

Excellent show for the day. Far better than the other sci fi shows coming out of America at the time.

That was very touching actually! For me, you ALL gave me and others of my age group, a most magical childhood! None of us can think you all enough for the shear excitement that each week we all had! I can, quite understand how you must have felt, seeing all that you made smashed up and in skips!! When our firm moved down to Devon! I tried to save a very old Guillotine for board not to be smashed up! The museums did not even come to take photos! So! This bit of old machinery that when it started up sounded like an underground train coming in! Was smashed up and put into a skip!! I do sympathise with you all! Sigh!!

The first episodes of Space 1999 I remember broadcasted were in the CBC Channel 9 Windsor which covered Detroit. When I spent the weekend at my grandmother's house I couldn't wait to watch it.

The model makers were genius! Also high as a kite to be so creative..

These shows were all cool.

Jim Henson was probably jealous of the puppets.

I loved playing a game called Xcom and often wondered if it was inspired by the show UFO.

Now this was when children's television was worth something... a perfect mixture of imagination and ingenuity.

Even though Gerry Anderson was "stringing" them along, in my opinion the puppets were BETTER than some of the live actors, who could be "wooden" in comparison! 👍🤣 (See what I did there? ... It was more obvious than the strings!)

Gerry lost his chance at knighthood when he unemployed those people. 😢

These shows were my childhood. There is and never will be anything like them.

I had no idea at the time when we visited my late aunt in Langley, near Slough, that we were so close to where Thunderbirds, Stingray, Captain Scarlet and so many of the other Gerry Anderson series were filmed!!

Always loved the Thunderbirds! Was part of my early development! Fantastic production quality and stories!

Still watching UFO, T_birds, and Stingray today at 60 yrs old. It's amazing to see through this channel how much dedication and effort went into production with very little technology in them days.
